Mission & Vision

The mission of the Department of Special Education at the Faculty of Education, Hakkari University, is to educate qualified special education teachers who can assess the educational needs of individuals with special needs in accordance with scientific and ethical principles; are responsive to individual differences; embrace human rights and inclusive education; and effectively implement evidence-based practices. Through educational processes that integrate theoretical knowledge with practice, scientific research, student projects, field-based practices, interinstitutional collaborations, and community engagement activities, our department aims to support the independent living, active participation in education and society, and quality of life of individuals with special needs.

The vision of the Department of Special Education at the Faculty of Education, Hakkari University, is to become a nationally and internationally recognized, pioneering, and trusted department that educates qualified teachers, produces scientific knowledge, translates this knowledge into practice, and promotes accessibility and inclusive education. Our department aspires to be an academic unit that responds to the needs of individuals with special needs and their families, develops innovative and evidence-based practices, supports students’ academic and professional development, and contributes to the quality of special education services through sustainable collaborations extending from the university to the wider community.
